David was a farmer at Rochester. His name is generally spelled Mendall in most records, but his gravestone and that of his son Noah in Happy Alley Cemetery, Marion, Mass., is spelled Mendell.

20 March 1799. David Mendall of Rochester yeoman for $820, conveyed to Jonathan Mendall of Rochester, land in Rochester with dwelling house and building thereon...about 70 acres. Received 10 April 1800. (Plymouth County Deeds, 87:120).

David Mendel/Mendall/Mendal was head of a household in the 1800, 1810and 1820 censuses of Rochester. In 1830 and 1840 Censuses his widow was probably in the household of their son Benjamin and in the 1850 Census of Rochester, Jane Mendell 77 was listed in the household of Benjamin Mendell. David died intestate. The administration of his estate included the home farm $1,875.00 and totalled $2,625.75.
