William Harrison Case, Jr., 85, of Deputy died at 9:59 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2008, at his home.

Mr. Case had been a school bus driver for the Deputy School System for 48 years and a custodian at Deputy School. He had also worked at the Powder Plant in Charlestown and as a butcher at Nay’s Grocery in Deputy. He farmed for 60 years, retiring in 2007.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 104th Evacuation Hospital in France, England, Luxembourg and Germany for 20 months, driving a 2 ½ ton cargo truck. He received the American Theatre Ribbon, European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon with 5 Bronze Service Stars, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal.

A member of Kent Christian Church, he had attended school in Bardstown, Kentucky. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, pitching horseshoes, playing the guitar and singing.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 15, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon with the Rev. Dale Boyd officiating. Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be at Bardstown Cemetery at 2 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Rick Loader officiating. Military graveside honors will be conducted by Marion County, Kentucky, Honor Guard.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Hospice of King’s Daughters’ Hospital.

Born March 15, 1923, in Bardstown, Kentucky, Mr. Case was the son of William Harrison and Mary Ellen Harrell Case. He married Bessie V. Clements on July 3, 1942.

Surviving are three sons, Donald Harrison (Edna L.) Case, Joseph Leon Case and Thomas Dale (Joy) Case of Deputy and Duane Lindsey (Debra) Case of North Vernon; three daughters, Betty Jean (Roger) Williams and Sondra Lou (Donald) Walp of Deputy and Sharon Lee (W. Dink) Willis of Mt. View, Arkansas; two sisters, Lula Belle Clements of New Middletown and Estelle (Dorsey) Harrell of Louisville, Kentucky; 24 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, on September 28, 1992; a son, Larry William Case; a brother, Ernest (Frosty) Case; and a grandson, Shawn Case.
